Due to continued growth, Lambert Chapman LLP has a new and exciting opportunity for a Trainee Payroll Processor to join our friendly Payroll Bureau who are responsible for processing payrolls for over 500 of our clients.

The position requires someone who is keen on learning payroll, numerate and literate and happy to communicate with clients. Full training will be provided to the candidate to provide them with the skills required to become a competent Payroll Processor.  The ideal candidate should have attention to detail and enjoy building strong supportive relationships with colleagues and clients.

Initial Skills Required:

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft products including word, excel and outlook
  • Commitment and passion to learn new skills to develop knowledge in payroll processing
  • Work well within a team environment
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external parties
  • Calm nature to deal with pressure at month end due to tight reporting deadlines

Job Specification for Trainee Payroll Processor:

  • Work as part of a small team directly responsible for Payroll
  • Develop organisational skills to deal with large volumes of data and tight deadlines
  • Learn how to process monthly and weekly payrolls for various clients
  • Learn how to deal with the input of starters/leavers onto the payroll system
  • Learn how to deal with HMRC in respect of basic queries
  • Learn the requirements of reporting required by HMRC in respect of payroll data
  • Learn how to deal with Auto Enrolment processing
  • Learn how to help clients with their payroll queries
  • Learn how to deal with statutory payments including SSP, SPP and SMP
  • Learn how to deal with reporting requirements under the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)

What we offer:

  • Full time position (37.5 hours per week):

– Option 1 – Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm with an hour for lunch

– Option 2 – Early Finish Day – 3 Weeks of 4 days at 8.30am to 5.30pm with an hour for lunch (including a Friday) and 1 day at 8.30am to 1.15pm (Mon/Tues/Weds/Thurs) – 1 week of 5 days at 8.30am to 5.30pm with an hour for lunch.
