Nigel Whittle tells of recent lunch with Firm Founders
Nick, Chris and I renewed acquaintances when we met up with our founders Mike Lambert and Lloyd Chapman for a lunch full of reminiscence and talk of the old days when we practiced together. Amazingly on 30th June it will be 5 years since they both retired from the business though Mike did do marketing calls for Maldon and Braintree.
As many of you will know Mike suffered a large stroke last summer and spent a long period in hospital. He has been home for some months and still attends weekly physiotherapy sessions in Colchester on his left arm and leg which still have little movement. Despite this he was extremely cheerful and took in good spirit some reminders of things that had occurred under his tuteledge.
Lloyd continues to sit on the bench in Colchester as a magistrate between regular visits to Milton Keynes and Norwich to visit his grandchildren. His sense of humour was undiminished and it wasn’t long before he and I were laughing at side jokes which always got us into trouble from Mike at Partners Meetings!
Mike was keen to offer his thanks to everyone who has sent him warm wishes since his illness and to those who had sponsored his daughter Rebecca in her recent London Marathon run for the Stroke association for which she has raised nearly £5,000.
