Fantasy Football Manager of the Month - February 2010

Our Manager of the Month for February 2010 is Keith Songhurst, Manager of Keith Was Once Athletic. His team scored 282 points during the month and the main contributions to this total were from Rooney, Drogba and Defoe.

Also doing well were TM’s Team and CM United, managed by Tom Maddocks and Chris Maher. These managers got the right names on the team sheet and their stars of the month were Rooney, Tevez, Drogba, Schwarzer and Defoe.

We caught up with Keith to ask for his thoughts on all things football - here is what he had to offer:

How long have you been playing Fantasy Football for or is this beginners luck?

This is my third season in the Lambert Chapman league.  I hadn’t played for a good few years prior to that.

Are you doing as well in other leagues you have entered?

No, I am in another league in which I am struggling quite badly.  An unlucky run of injuries and some very poor refereeing decisions…..

What was the basis for picking your side and who is in it?

I initially just went for the expensive big points scorers from previous years and then tried to guess which cheap players may come good.  Transfers are vital for getting in the cheap players who are doing well and vice versa.

What’s the story behind the team name?

Beer, pizza and Chinese food mainly!

Who do you support?

Ipswich

Who did you think will win the Premiership?

Man Utd

We all remember our first professional game. What was yours and who scored the goals?

Ipswich at home to Liverpool, 83/84 season.  I think we lost 2-1 but I can’t remember who scored.  I was too busy watching the crowd and enjoying the agricultural language!

If you could go to any game what would it be?

The Champions League Final in 2015 with Ipswich looking to retain the trophy for the third year running.  Sadly, I fear I’ll have to make do with Ipswich v Scunthorpe!

Date:10 March 2010
